There are many pricing models for POS systems. For Shopify POS, your recurring costs will consist of your Shopify plan, transaction fees, and POS Pro subscription (if you choose to upgrade).
Your Shopify plan includes your retail POS, ecommerce, payments processing, marketing, analytics, shipping tools, and more and is available on a monthly or yearly basis. Transaction fees are automatically debited from each sale, so you can manage cash flow and have an accurate view of payouts.
For scaling retail businesses that see a lot of foot traffic, have multiple tiers of staff, or a large inventory catalogue, we recommend adding the POS Pro subscription to unlock additional POS features for your business.
In addition to monthly fees, there are typically upfront costs for businesses to get started with a new POS. To get up and running on Shopify POS, you’ll need: a smartphone or tablet to run the POS app and a Shopify card reader to accept payments.
There is no extra cost for additional registers on Shopify, so you can fill out your checkout counter or create satellite checkouts simply with a smartphone or tablet and an additional Shopify card reader.

Shopify POS Lite and Shopify POS Pro are two versions of Shopify’s POS app. Shopify POS Lite comes free with every Shopify plan and gives businesses of any size the ability to sell in-person from a retail store or on the go.
